Black Adam (film)
Black Adam is a new American superhero film based on the same-named DC Comics character. It is a spin-off from Shazam! (2019) and the eleventh film in the DC Extended Universe, produced by DC Films, New Line Cinema, Seven Bucks Productions, and FlynnPictureCo., and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures (DCEU).
Dwayne Johnson starred alongside Noah Centineo, Aldge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Pierce Brosnan in the film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani.
Johnson was tied to Shazam! early on in the production process, and in September 2014, he confirmed that he will play the villain Black Adam. In January 2017, the filmmakers decided to give the character his own film, and Sztykiel was hired in October of that year. Collet-Serra joined in June 2019, with a December 2021 release date planned, but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed that back. Additional casting took place over the next year, including for members of the Justice Society of America (JSA), and the script was rewritten by Haines and Noshirvani. From April to August 2021, filming took place in Atlanta, Georgia, and Los Angeles, California.
On July 29, 2022, Black Adam will be released in the United States.
Black Adam Film Release Date
Warner Bros. Pictures plans to release Black Adam in the United States on July 29, 2022. It was supposed to be launched on December 22, 2021, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed.
Black Adam Film Storyline
Plot Summary & Review
Kahndaq was a cruel nation that employed magic and sorcery to enslave segments of its inhabitants during Adam’s time. Adam, however, used his position as the Champion to free his people and rule Kahndaq as its king.
Adam was once a hero, but after his family was murdered, he turned to darkness and unwittingly unleashed the Seven Deadly Sins demons. He was imprisoned for his misdeeds, and after 5000 years, Black Adam will see him emerge from his prison, desperate to restore Kahndaq to its former splendor.
The movie’s connection to Shazam! is presently unknown. However, the death of the Wizard may be the key to Adam’s freedom. While the premise of the film has yet to be revealed, we may expect to see Black Adam re-establish his realm. This may enrage the JSA, resulting in a conflict between Adam and the superheroes. Given how these stories typically go, a greater threat will almost certainly emerge, forcing the heroes to work together to save the world.
