Plot Summary & Review

Freddie records Carly and her best friend Sam doing improv comedy during a school talent show audition and puts it online without telling them. The iCarly webcast is created in response to the internet public’s demand for more after witnessing the girls’ excellent chemistry and humor. The three kids’ regular adolescent lives are turned upside down when they learn that they have become internet sensations as their show — which includes talent contests, recipes, problem-solving, and random dancing – receives international acclaim.

Carly, her elder brother, and their guardian, Spencer, live in Seattle and produce the show in a makeshift third-floor studio loft in their apartment. Steven Shay, their father, is a United States Air Force officer stationed on a submarine who is frequently mentioned but only appears in the series’ conclusion episode, “iGoodbye.”

Exterior views of the Shays’ apartment complex, Bushwell Plaza, are digitally altered photographs of the Los Angeles’ Eastern Columbia Building.
