He works for Cox’s NBC station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, WPXI-TV, as an American journalist. Joe started working on the news channel on October 22, 2012. Todd McDermott had transferred to WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, a Hearst-owned ABC affiliate, and he was replaced by him.

Joe co-anchored the morning news with Jennifer Abney, traffic reporter Trisha Pittman, and meteorologist Kevin Benson every weekday morning from 4:30 to 7:00 a.m. Joe also co-anchors Channel 11 News at Noon with veteran anchor Peggy Finnegan. Prior to joining WPXI-TV, Joe worked as a news anchor and reporter at WIVB-TV, a Lin Television-owned CBS station in Buffalo, New York.

He also accompanied Tom Brokaw on his “Greatest Generation” interviews and worked with another veteran broadcaster, Don Imus, on his radio simulcasts at MSNBC. Joe has also worked as a delivery guy for a video rental company in Manhattan. He’s also done some selling door-to-door. WIIC became Pittsburgh’s second commercial VHF station on September 1, 1957. WIIC Incorporated, a joint venture of WWSW radio and Pittsburgh Radio Supply House, received the station’s construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in June 1955. Soon after, CBS, which was looking for its own full-time affiliate in the market, reached an agreement with channel 11, which was then unidentified.

Meanwhile, Westinghouse-owned KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, which had been the longest-running NBC station under Cox’s ownership since 1964, cleared CBS’ programming. In 1970, Eleanor Schano made history as the first woman to anchor a radio show on WIIC. In 1970, Eleanor Schano, the first woman to anchor a newscast alone and host a weekly 30-minute public affairs show called Face to Face, made history in the world of television.

In 1975, Channel 11 became known as “e11even,” and in 1977, it became known as “11 Alive.” WIIC aired the Operation Prime Time program in 1979. The Post-Gazette is owned by Block Communications, whose parent company is situated in Toledo, Ohio.
