Turner & Hooch (TV series)

Turner & Hooch is an American buddy police comedy television series that is based on and follows the 1989 film of the same name. Executive producer Matt Nix devised and wrote the series, which stars Josh Peck, Lyndsy Fonseca, Carra Patterson, and Vanessa Lengies and is produced in conjunction with Flying Glass of Milk Productions, Wonderland Sound and Vision, and 20th Television. It’s the third installment in the eponymous series overall. The Disney+ exclusive series premiered on July 21, 2021.

Turner & Hooch Release Date

Turner & Hooch was originally set to premiere on Disney+ on July 16, 2021, with 12 episodes distributed weekly until October 1. However, following the popularity of Loki’s Wednesday release, Disney+ announced on June 16, 2021, that the majority of its original premieres will be moved to Wednesdays. Turner & Hooch was so released on July 21, 2021. On July 17, 2021, the Red Carpet Premiere took held in Los Angeles.

Turner & Hooch Storyline

Peck plays uptight US Marshal Scott Turner Jr, the son of the original Scott Turner. He is most known for the Ice Age sequels, Drake & Josh, and The Amanda Show.

Scott Jr. is dealing with his father’s death and gets a naughty puppy named Hooch. However, as he investigates his father’s death more, he begins to suspect that it was not an accident. Will Scott be able to get past his first hatred of Hooch and discover the truth?

  • Josh Peck as Scott Turner Jr., a prim and proper US Marshal, the son of the late Det. Scott Turner, who inherits an unruly dog
  • Carra Patterson as Jessica Baxter, Scott’s partner, whose personality is a “sharp contrast to his spit-and-polish ways,” and who, while working, has a courageous and quick-thinking mentality, and whose sense of humor frequently gets her into trouble.
  • Lyndsy Fonseca as Laura Turner, Scott’s sister, and a veterinary assistant, introduces Hooch to Scott while dealing with their father’s death and assists Scott in his investigation.
  • Vanessa Lengies as Erica Mouniere, Turner volunteers to train Hooch because he is a dog lover and trainer at the US Marshal K-9 program. 
  • Brandon Jay McLaren as Xavier Watkins, despite being a cat lover, a marine-turned-US Marshal develops a warm place for Hooch. He is regarded as “cool, enigmatic, and a little weird,” as one of the office’s most seasoned members.
  • Jeremy Maguire as Matthew Garland, Scott’s nephew, and a dog lover, who is overjoyed when Scott inherits Hooch.
  • Anthony Ruivivar as James Mendez, a US Marshal Chief, and Scott’s supervisor, admires Scott but is wary of Hooch at first, finally allowing him to get K-9 training when he assists in the investigation of a case.
  • Sheila Kelley as Dr. Emily Turner, Scott’s mother, who is also a veterinarian. Dr. Emily Carson was formerly played by Mare Winningham in the original film.
  • Reginald VelJohnson as David Sutton, Mayor of Cypress Beach and a former police detective partner of the late Scott Turner. The only actor from the original film who appears in the series is VelJohnson.
